Powerboat Courses
POWERBOAT COURSE LEVEL
1 - A one day introduction to powerboat
handling. An ideal starter for juniors and candidates
with no previous experience. A short theory session followed
by practical on the water boat handling.
POWERBOATCOURSE LEVEL
2 - this two day course is run either one to one or
with a maximum of three persons to one instructor. The course
provides the knowledge and skills to use
a powerboat safely in coastal waters. Classroom theory
is followed by coastal water tuition in the Lymington River
and the Western Solent.
The ICC assessment and examination can be linked to this course
on successful completion of the Level 2.
No previous experience necessary.
POWERBOAT INTERMEDIATE
COURSE - this two day practical and theory course is
the stepping stone to becoming an advanced powerboater. Candidates
should have Level 2 certification and a basic knowledge of
navigation. The course covers practical use of traditional
and electronic navigation and teaches pilotage and passage
planning on coastal waters in daylight hours.
ADVANCED POWERBOAT
COURSE - This course is run over two full days and
one night time exercise. For candidates wishing to take their
training up to a higher level this course is professionally
recognised and can be commercially endorsed after taking further
examination.
A sound knowledge of navigation is a course requisite and
candidates must hold a current First Aid Certificate and a
VHF operators licence.
RYA POWERBOAT LEVEL
2 [DIRECT ASSESSMENT] - Candidates who feel they have
the skills and knowledge to safely handle
a powerboat on coastal waters can demonstrate this to
an instructor by way of a half day practical assessment. The
ICC exam can be linked to this pending a successful pass.
